NATURE'S PALETTE
© CS Roberts Nov.18,2010

In Spring She paints with pastels and lace.
Summer brings hues and all shades of green.
Fall is a riot of golds, yellows, reds, and
colors for which we clumsy humans have no words.
In Winter She is subdued in a palette of grays
made interesting by play of shadow and light.

A Sam, Mary, Jenny and Elliot Story

                                         By C. S. Roberts

"Hi everyone! I'm here to tell you about some friends of mine. Their names are Sam, Mary and Jenny. They are great friends who have all sorts of adventures and fun together. I met them one day while I was sitting with some of my animal and fairy friends in the deep woods. Sometimes I go with them on their magical sojourns.

Who am I you ask? Well, my name is... gosh, I'm not sure how to say it in your language, just call me KOL that means Keeper of the leaves, cause that's what I be.

                                                                        Artist Unknown
Anyway, on this particular day, I wasn't with them, but I heard about it later and I thought I'd share it with you. This is the Tale of the Tree of Gratitude

Tale of Sam, Mary, Jenny and Elliot

The day was beautiful, not too warm, not too cool but just the right temperature to make one want go on an adventure, so the friends had decided to take a hike in the woods just outside town. They were four in number, Jenny, Mary, Elliot and Sam. Sam was the tacit leader, and the rest usually went along with whatever he wanted to do. Of all of them Jenny would stand up to Sam more than the other two. Today Sam had suggested that there were secrets to be discovered in the woods and, because it did sound so appealing and Jenny was game, they all thought the idea was sound.

They struck out early in the morning with no real plan or preparation but, at the time, that didn’t seem important. The mist was rising from the wooded valley below lending a feel of mystery and anticipation to the trip. The road out of town was rather boring because they saw it every day but just on the other side of the city limit sign the group became very interested in the landscape through which they trudged. The woods moved in close to the road with the ferns and undergrowth creating enticing paths that beckoned to the children. The further away from town they went, the thicker and greener the forest became. With Sam in the lead, they passed many an interesting path until he found one that he just could not ignore.

As he turned down what seemed to be a trail for game, probably used by the animals of the forest, probably deer, he realized that the others had stopped. Turning to see what had caught their attention Sam had to laugh at the looks of awe on their faces. The wonder of the forest had them spellbound. He cleared his throat to startle them back to the adventure at hand and they fell in behind him. The deeper into the woods they went, the more their excitement grew. Their senses were tingling, and they were both afraid to proceed and anxious to push on all at the same time. The smell of rich damp loam mixed with the tangy sent of conifers of all types was tinged with the sweet fragrance of woodland flowers, delighting their senses and drawing them on.

Sam pushed limbs and twigs out of the way holding them for the next one to take their turn holding it for the one following. There were odd looking plants that were flowers, mushrooms and other things the children had never seen before. They were of all sizes and shapes just off the path that intrigued Mary and Jenny, but the boys took no notice. By now Elliot and Sam were walking abreast so that they could decide on a strategy for their exploration while Mary and Jenny brought up the rear. The girls were caught up in picking some of the wildflowers that grew along the trail. They had wisely decided not to mess with the mushrooms because they had heard that some of them were poisonous and they didn't know which were which. While the boys lead the way, accentuating their conversation with sword play, provided by sticks that had presented themselves for the fencing pleasure of imaginative adventurers.

The deeper into the lush woods they went the deeper the twilight under the trees became. The four, being so interested in their conversations that the passing of time wasn’t noticed until the sun began to lower enough for them to become aware how late it had actually gotten. As the children began to realize where they were and how late it had become, their voices fell quiet, and they started to pay attention to their surroundings a bit closer. Their foot falls were silent on the tree needles that carpeted the ground from many generations of shedding and new growth and shedding again. The nocturnal animals that were beginning to stir were frighteningly loud and not being able to see them, made even the smallest rodent sound huge. The eerie hooting of the owls made the hair on the children's necks stand on end and to top it off, Mary and Jenny were becoming hungry, tired and a bit frightened. This led them to complain to Sam, who was beginning to heartily regret his suggestion of the day. Elliot was blessedly quiet as he went on ahead, oblivious to the apprehensions of his friends. They had all grown tired and the evening was becoming uncomfortably cool, not to mention that the girls talk about food had their attention riveted on the fact that they had not eaten in hours nor had any of them had the foresight to bring food with them.

Sam was just about to admit that they were lost and suggest that they try to retrace their steps when Elliot, who had gotten way ahead, came pounding back down the path, exclaiming excitedly that he had found something amazing. All discomfort and fear was forgotten with the announcement and everyone hurried after Elliot to see what the find was.

Not much farther down the trail they had been following, right in the middle of it stood the largest tree any of them had ever seen. It was so tall that they could not see the top of it and the branches spread out for what seemed to be miles, totally blocking out the sky as far as they could see. The large strong branches were gnarled and whorled from many years in the weather and they held the nests of many beautifully colored birds that hopped, flew and fluttered all about. Some of them even swooped down to investigate the children and take their findings back to the others in the upper reaches. The tree's  roots stood high out of the ground where they were close to the massive trunk, some of them were as high as Sam’s waist. The bark was thick and crackled which made convenient pathways for the myriad insects busily going about their own little buggy business ignoring the children who were pointing at and discussing them. If the friends had joined hands in an attempt to encircle the trunk, the four of them would not have been able to girdle even an eighth of it. But none of these things were the exciting part. In the center of the trunk was what looked like a door drawn in light. Mary, Jenny and Sam didn’t see it right away but when Elliot pointed it out, they wondered why it was there and how they had missed it. The light was yellow and very shiny and against the rough dark bark it should have been visible for a long way away. There did not seem to be any windows like the ones you would find in a proper shelter, but the door was just so inviting and it was getting cold enough for the children so see their breath in puffs of white mist as they spoke.

None of them were sure what to do with the door but doors are meant to be opened right? So, Elliot put his hand on the tree trunk door and pushed. The mysterious door swung open silently and the children found themselves looking into a very large brightly lit and empty room. By now the temperature outside was unpleasantly cold and dampness had joined in to make it very uncomfortable, so the promise of light and warmth drew the four friends inside and the door closed behind them without any help or sound. Panicked, they pushed and pulled the place where it had been and, to their relief, it opened again. Satisfied that they were not imprisoned in the tree they all sat down with their backs leaning against the walls to decide what they should do with this new situation.

Mary and Jenny began to feel hungry again and told the others that they sure would be thankful for a cheeseburger and some fries. No sooner had they finished speaking than cheeseburgers and fries appeared in their laps. They were all still gawping at the food when Elliot decided that he could be thankful for a large bowl of ice cream which he received on the spot. As they exchanged looks of disbelief, Sam demanded a turkey sandwich and nothing happened. After some discussion and replay of events, Mary suggested that he be appropriately thankful for the food, and he just might get it. As it turned out, she was right and after Sam rephrased his request, the sandwich appeared in his hand. The ravenous explorers ate in silence until all had finished their food.

Then their discussion began.  After much talk and conjecture about the magic door, tree and food the group decided to see what else they may need to ask the tree for. Jenny suggested that because it was dark outside and they would not be able to see their way out of the woods, they should just stay where they were until morning. All of them hoped that their parents would not worry. There was nothing children could do if they did except try to explain when they got back home.

That decided, and since all were in agreement, the four of them  started making suggestions about what they would require, with gratitude of course, to make their stay comfortable. Each one tried to ask for something to make the tree feel and look more like home. The first thing each of them wanted was a bed. They quickly discovered that they had to be touching the wall of the tree when they made their request as well as have a very clear picture in their mind of just what they wanted. With one hand on the wall of the tree and their idea firmly in mind each watched in awe as the beds came out of nowhere. It started out sort of misty and, as the child held the picture of their bed firmly in their mind, the mist solidified into a useable bed. By adding gratitude to that process, soon each of them had their own room furnished with a comfortable bed and everything else they needed for an overnight stay. The mental exercise on top of the long walk and filling repast had the friends very tired and, after saying good night to each other and the tree, all were soon deeply asleep.

The next morning Sam, Mary, Jenny and Elliot woke refreshed and a little surprised to find themselves still in the tree. As they discussed the fact that each one of them thought it had all been a dream, they requested and got a wonderful breakfast from their awesome new friend the tree. Mary pointed out that since they had all been away for the entire night their parents would probably be very worried and that they should get home as quickly as they could to avoid more worry than they had already caused. Each of them reached out a hand to the tree and thanked it for taking such good care of them and bid the beautiful room goodbye. To their amazement, everything vanished, just dimmed until it was not to be seen. Their things, beds, the room the door and…the huge, enormous, beautiful tree all gone into nowhere and the four were left standing at the edge of the road into town with the sun setting, staring bug-eyed at each other as their parents drove up  to collect them, just a little concerned because of the hour. It was the same day as when they had started their adventure!

Each of them, Sam, Mary, Jenny and Elliot, made a quick vow to each other not to tell about the tree. Who would believe it anyway? The children said good-bye to each other and climbed into their family cars to be taken back home to remember and wonder and hope to see the tree again.

MARK AND JOSIES 60TH ANNIVERSARY

as told by Chessie and Dave

(c) 2025 all rights reserved

We, Dave, the children and I had decided to go to Mississippi to surprise Memaw and Papaw on the occasion of their sixtieth wedding anniversary. We loaded up the old white station wagon with everything we would need for the overnight and part day drive and started off. We traveled by night because the traffic was better and the children would sleep, at least one of them would. Mark would be asleep before we left the driveway. Shelby, on the other hand, would stay up all night and her endless chatter helped the person driving keep their eyes open.

The trip was uneventful, and we arrived at the house just as Josie was starting to fix lunch. She was busy at the worktable in the kitchen and didn’t hear us drive up. We cautioned the children to be quiet and all four of us slipped in through the back door in the den. Memaw had her back to us, so didn’t see us as I put Shelby down and told Mark to take her hand and go into the kitchen and say hi to their great grandmother. The children toddled in and stood watching her until she became aware that they were standing beside her. She gave a little start, whirled around to face us and cried, “How did you get here? Mad—dlone! Come look who’s here! Come quick! How DID you get here?” The look on her face was well worth the drive. Momma wasn’t even sure we could make it, so she was surprised to see us too. We found out that Papaw was at the store, so we’d get to do the surprise bit again when he got home. Dave decided to hide the car, it would have been a sure giveaway, so he drove it down the hill a bit just to get it out of sight. The ruse worked perfectly, and Papaw walked into a house full of grandchildren and great grandchildren that he was thrilled to see.

The celebration was the next day so, after unloading the car and settling into our respective spaces, we pitched in to help set up. There were napkins to spiral, crystal and silver to polish, china to wash, best tablecloths to locate and iron, vegetables to arrange artistically and the list went on and on. I wondered if we would be finished in time but, by bedtime, all was ready for the influx of guests. The only thing left to do was get some rest and dress up for the party in the morning.

The day dawned beautiful in all ways, temperature, sunshine, flowers, we could not have planned it better. Even though I had helped prepare the decorations I was amazed by how lovely everything looked for this very special party. People started arriving at one in the afternoon and there was so much visiting and eating, picture taking and comparing of children that it seemed to go on for hours. It was so nice to see all the aunts, uncles and cousins again and of course, no one knew we would be there, so our surprise was added to the excitement. Soon everyone had left except the family and Papaw’s three brothers and their wives.

William, Papaw’s next to the oldest brother was tall and lanky with the distinct McMullan nose and thinning grey hair. He didn’t talk much but when he did it was always worth listening to.  He was a farmer who raised livestock and just enough of a garden to feed the family and a few neighbors.  Jack, the oldest, was much shorter than the rest but you could see the family resemblance strongly, He laughed a lot and had grand stories to tell too. Miley, the youngest, was not as short as Jack but he was defiantly bigger around. His family resemblance was there but not as pronounced as the other boys.   He worked for the Mississippi state highway department and sometimes helped William and Mark with projects they had going on.  They all loved to get together and tell stories. More than that they loved to play a good joke on each other. This day was no exception and while us gals were visiting in the kitchen; all the guys were visiting in the living room. I wasn’t in there to hear this part, so I’ll let Dave tell you about the conversation that happened.

“Well. Like Chessie said, all the men were talking in the living room. Everybody tried to talk at once for a while then no one had anything to say. You know how that happens some time when a bunch of people get together to visit. Well, in that break…

“William said to no one in particular, “I think someone has been messing around out on the property. I was walking through the meadow, checking around the back gate where we bring the cows from one field to the other, when I noticed that the weeds looked driven over. I don’t go out there much anymore and never drive through, so it sort of stood out as being used. I started looking closer to see if there had been trash or anything thrown around and there in the middle of the old road, someone had been scratching in the dirt. I got nearer and in the middle of the little disturbed place, someone had planted this funny looking little plant. I don’t think whoever did it was much of a farmer.”

Jack asked, “What makes you say that?”

“Well,” William replied, “They didn’t work the dirt enough to do any good and it looked like they dumped about a cup of water beside it instead of around it like they should have. I don’t think it’ll make up very well. Probably won’t even live. But it sure looked strange.”

Miley wanted to know if maybe “it’s somethin’ that shouldn’t be there do you suppose?”

William said. “I’m guessing that’s what it’s got to be.” No one wanted to say the plant type. It was like they were afraid if someone said it, the police would fall out of the walls and arrest us all.

Papaw chimed in with, “Did you call the cops? You need to get that stuff out of there!”

“Naw, I don’t think I’m gonna’ call the police just yet. I want to fertilize and water it and see just what it’ll do.”

Every voice in the room called out together, “I don’t think that’s such a good idea, get rid of it!”

Jack sat forward in his chair and, with great concern in his voice asked, “William, why in the world would you want to do that? You’re eighty-six and don’t need to be messin’ with stuff like that.

William just smiled back and told him, “Well if it does everything that the kids says that it does for them, I want to see what it can do for me.” Then he broke out in such loud laughter that everyone knew that he had been teasing about the whole thing.

He had found a marijuana plant in the field but had no intention of keeping it.  He had called the police to report the “crime”. They did an investigation into the felonious planting, but we never did find out who had done it. But, like William said, “He wasn’t much of a farmer.”

My 2 cents worth.

Like all of you, I have been deeply distressed, offended and appalled by the current race situation. Having grown up in the dichotomy of being the child of the military (where I was taught equality of every life, religion and culture) vs deep family roots in the privilege of a white Mississippi upper middle class or the 'I'm in charge because I'm white and you're not' mind set, I have always been confused by (what I consider to be) the inane idea that one color is better or less than another. I am also appalled by the pomposity of one color/ethnicity, religion/belief system, class, and any other label of separation you care to use as being the only right one.

The fact that the overwhelm, conquer, then forcing the subdued to conform or die is, best I can tell from studying history from every perspective I can find, makes me think that is it hardwired in our human DNA as it is in the animals we watched to learn survival as we evolved over the centuries.

That said, my confusion comes with the understanding of knowledge, skills, technology mankind has acquired, the awakening and ensuing protests and whistle blowing about these things happening for so long, why the bloody hell are these things still the same? My conclusion is simple, AVARICE AND EGO.

So many oligarchs have proven over and over that this is a doable and sustainable way to control the masses that the collective has taken it to be the proper way of life. I call BS!!! When one group is pressed hard enough, long enough, just like a volcano is born, eruption is eminent. Why does this surprise the complacent...wake up doggone it!

With the abundance of the earth, no one life, animal vegetable or resource should not be supported and saved from abuse and overuse.

Even the planet has had enough. We have created the condition(s) that have paved the avenues for our own destruction to occur and planet is taking full advantage of them to say to us, “ONE MORE TIME, HEY, STUPID IGNORANT THINGS ABUSING ME AND EACH OTHER, WAKE UP AND STOP IT OR YOU'RE ALL GONE!!”

If the self-appointed and heretofore allowed supremacy folk would get off their notions, egos, wallets and share, the entire world would benefit. Yes, yes, I know that is expecting a lot but with people waking up to this and #callingoutthelie more and more I feel it is doable. Pollyanna-ish I admit HOWEVER I do not see why it cannot happen.

I hear a chorus of “Yeah right! How long is that going to take?” My answer is “How long is a piece of string?”

It will take as long as it takes but if we never start, we will never get there.

SO, protest intelligently, keep speaking out, share this idea of equality, support each other in this endeavor, VOTE intelligently and for the love of everything living do not give up!

Helen Keller said it best I think, “The only thing worse than being blind is having sight and no vision.”

Therefore, I say that I do not weep for the blind me I leave behind me. I will continue to evolve and advocate for this notion as long and in every way possible within my purview to accomplish.

Thanks for reading, I hope it has helped somehow. #DoPeaceBeLove

INTRODUCTION TO

STORIES FROM THE FRONT PORCH

By C. S. Roberts

Family Picture of the McMullans and Freemans

Growing up in the 1950’s was a wonderful time of playing outside and sharing time with family and friends. When I was young, we didn’t have a television set, so the entertainment came from listening to the radio, enjoying stories from the memories and lives of our elders and our own imaginations.

I was very fortunate to spend a lot of time with my maternal grandparents. Mom, my younger brother and I lived with them when Daddy was at a duty station where we couldn’t go (He was in the Navy). We got to learn about rural and city life when with the Grands and other cultures and countries when we traveled with Dad.

This (soon to be a book) is a compilation of stories from several different generations. They are set in bygone years (as far back as just after the Civil War up to some of my grandchildren) and told in the vernacular and jargon of the time. Some of the phrases and references may sound foreign, harsh, raciest or mean however, I have attempted to hold the feel and sound of the time in which the stories were told without being overtly provocative.

All stories are from my personal collection and were gathered with the full knowledge of the person telling the tale to me. I have changed as little as possible to take the anecdote from the spoken word to print.

I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed collecting them and putting them on paper to share with you.

MEMAW’S PORCH

as told by Madelon to Peggie and Martin

Memaw’s porch was truly a place of magic! Each time I visited, there was something new and interesting to investigate. She was a flower grower and had pots of flowers all around the porch and could tell me the names of every one of the plants. After I had been told several times, I began to remember them. Let’s see, that one was Pauline Periwinkle. Over there was Francis Fern. There was a whole row of Ginny Geraniums, some Woodsy Violets, there were violets galore, Lizzy the Gizzard Plant, Pepperomia, Sue-Linn Jade and huge pots of Benny Begonias in all colors.

The plants were lovely but what was especially interesting about them was who inhabited each one. Memaw collected animals almost the way she collected plants. Ginny Wren nestled in the ferns and didn’t like it very much when I tried to peek into her nest, she was very fussy about who she allowed to look. Memaw could peek in any time, so I learned to squeeze under her elbow and peek too.

Crocus Frog lived in the crown of thorns. He knew that he was protected because those thorns were very sharp as I found out, to my dismay. But if I sat very still and was very patient, he would pop out to snare an unwary fly. I gathered many flies for him by using the handy fly swatter. He seemed to enjoy them as much as the live ones he caught.

Over in the geraniums there lived a family of chameleons. As they went from pot to pot and flower to flower, they changed colors to match whatever they were walking on. Once I took some construction paper of different colors and cut pieces to fit in the pots to see if that would make them change. Sure enough! It did! Wow!

A philodendron vine grew up a trellis. In the vine, near the roof of the porch, a little sparrow had made her nest, and she didn’t mind people peeking. I could climb up and inspect her nest to watch her eggs and I got to see them hatch. I could check whenever I wanted too. She seemed proud of her babies.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention the Elephant Ears. The big heart-shaped leaves concealed beautiful Calla-Lilly type blooms. If you watched them close enough and long enough you could see the flowers unwrapping themselves. The thing that made this pot so interesting, besides the fact that it took two people to move it, was that Papaw kept his fishing worms in it. Willie Wigglers could be called to the surface by putting a stick in the dirt and rubbing another stick across it, making a kind of grunting sound.  The Willies would soon appear, and Papaw would take a few with him to the fishing pond. That night we would have catfish and hushpuppies for dinner.

Other animals played around the porch when anyone was sitting in the rocking chairs. Whee-hee the colt would come galloping around the corner hoping that someone would have a piece of apple for him. Of course, I always did. Grumpy the turtle would sometimes come creeping out from under the steps to say hi. Chatter the squirrel would race up and down from the tree to the porch and back to gather the peanuts we would throw him. Graykin, the cat and Betsy, the dog were always with us for our evening porch sits.  Both of them would visit each flowerpot to say a friendly hello to its occupants.

When the sun westered and the late afternoon breeze began it was so nice to sit on the porch among all those animal and plant friends until Old Blue, our head bull, with his big bass bell ringing, would lead the cows up from the pasture for milking time. Any time I got the chance to visit, I would look forward to Memaw’s magic porch.

More installments to follow.

I'm Awake So What's Holding Me Back?

C. S; Roberts (C) 2025

I had someone ask this question of me a few days ago and it occurred to me that the mundane stuff of life will and does keep us distracted from our divine purpose; if we allow it too.

What do I mean by that you might ask. It's exactly what I said. Life, everyday life is a distraction. Things like your job/career, memories, feelings, old programs running in the background of your mind, triggers/ things that you use to make you feel special or different, labels that you feel you need to define you as a person, that make you stand out in a crowd. This can include politics, religion, health issues (chronic or otherwise), anything you do with an agenda. anything done automatically, without conscious, aware thought. These things can be thought of as Anchors.

As humans, we drag things with us unconsciously. Note that I am making the distinction here between Karma and  Anchors. The things that we create to say look at me! I'm different; just like everyone else. As we awaken and become aware of our selves as having a higher purpose and begin to look for it, we go to great lengths to cut the karmic chords and chains, but we continue to drag these unidentified Anchors along with us. We treat them as though they are important things by which to define us as us.

In truth, they don't define anything but our ego. Herein lies the problem. They anchor us in our human form, in our human brain. They cloud the mind and fool it into thinking that they are all we are. They drag us down and hold us back from our Asencion. They pull our attention in the wrong direction.

In the grand scheme of things all here (on Earth and in this incarnation) is fleeting; is an illusion. Our Anchors hold us in this stage much longer than we need to be there. However, as I have said many times, we don't know until we know, so now you know.

Yes, each of us needs to find their own way home [back to Source] and, yes, we are all headed there. But, as Mya Angelou said “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”

" Identifying your Anchors as such and treating them accordingly will assist your reach for enlightenment to happen faster, smoother and with more clarity as well as with less emotional pain than if you don't.

Most of these Anchors, in truth, no longer serve your higher purposes, they don't lift you in any way. All they do is massage your ego and that doesn't help/ They actually drag you back, hold you down and delay enlightenment, keeping you struggling to find your Light, your Divine Purpose.

It came to me in a flash of insight several days ago that we can cut these Anchor chains just as we cut our Karmic ones. First thing to do is to recognize them. As I pointed out in the opening they come in many forms. Things your parents wrongly called you/told you. Things your playmates (online people) have wrongly said or taunted you with. Deep rooted thoughts and feeling you hold about yourself. Things that have happened to or around you that you have eternalized. There are more but you get the picture. Things inside that NO LONGER DEFINE who/what you are now. The easiest way to think about it is consider ANYTHING in your life that you feel defines you in anyway, either "good" or "bad" or :"interferent" Those are your Anchors.

As you recognize them, take them one at the time. Be truthful but not hurtful and examine it separately with conscious awareness and discernment and ask yourself, "What purpose does it serve in your life at this point?" "Does it lift you toward your goal of finding your Divine Purpose?" "Does it serve your highest good and best outcome?" "Is it helpful in anyway?" "Does it broaden your outlook?" "Do you need it at all?" "Will it continue to hold you back?"

After deep thoughtful consideration (I suggest you write it all down, the Anchor , the questions and their answers) If you choose to let it go, burn the paper and allow your innermost self to do that, LET IT GO. If it turns out to be something that truly serves your highest good and best outcome in that moment, keep it until it stops serving you. Repeat the process until you feel cleansed of all those pesky holdbacks. As you do this, you will see/feel the futility of holding on to thoughts and feelings that hold you in a place those that you no longer need to be able to reach for your HIGHEST PURPOSE AND BEST OUTCOME.

THE TWO MOST POWERFUL WORDS

THE TWO MOST POWERFUL WORDS IN THE LANGUAGE
©Chessie Roberts 2010 all rights reserved

Do you find yourself becoming argumentative and defensive over the slightest thing? Does it seem to you that others are not getting with your program? Could it be that you are attempting to exercise control over something you can’t or should not be controlling?

If these issues are in your life, you need to learn about the two most powerful words in any language, “Let go.” I f you will ask yourself a few questions you will see very quickly how and where to use these wonderful words.

When you are pressing a point ask if the point is truly important. Will it be important in ten minutes? How about one month? A Year? If the subject is so trivial as to be lost in the next ten minutes, why waste time, energy, and frustration on it in the first place? Let it go. If in a months time the point is not something worth remembering, then why pursue it? See how that works?

Secondly ask yourself why it is important to you to be the ‘winner’ of this particular argument/difference of opinion? Is the subject of the argument important enough to agree to disagree? If not, it is not important enough to argue about in the first place. Remember that everyone has an opinion and rarely are two just alike and that is ok but to have to be correct all of the time about everything (no matter how trivial) sais that there deeper issues of control that need to occupying you time.

As you learn how to let go of the small things and be OK with that, the larger things will be easier to let go of as well. Letting go will de-clutter your life and make the more important things (those truly important) clearer so that you can take care of them in a positive and balanced way.
Bright Blessings, Chessie

What are Your Chakras and What Can They Do For You

Chakras are wheels of energy that are located along your physical spine. Like your nerves and blood vessels feed your physical body, your chakras feed your energetic body. For them to do this efficiently they should be aligned and free spinning. You keep them that way by your awareness of them and how they feel when they are misaligned or blocked.

What misalignes them? Stress is the biggest factor. You hear of “good stress” and “bad stress” but the truth of the matter is that stress is stress, there is no good or bad. Your idea and notion about whether it is good or bad can and does add to the intensity so you may want to consider changing you paradigm around this subject. A neutral attitude about stress will make it easier for you to detach your emotions about  the subject that is stressing you and allow you to calm down, thus helping lower the stress.

As you learn more about these wonderful things in your body/mind system the more fascinating they become. They can let you know something is amiss before you feel bad or sick. They can give you guidance about whether a food or product is beneficial to you before you buy it. As you become more adept at using your energetic system you will be able to make better judgments and choices that impact your life.

In this series of articles, I will tell you a bit about each chakra area, what it affects and other information about it. The series will begin with the first chakra and rise to the seventh. To get you started, I have compiled a list of  them with some of their lesser known attributes. THE 2012 SHIFT; WHAT’S GOING ON? MY TWO CENTS WORTH

THE 2012 SHIFT; WHAT’S GOING ON? MY TWO CENTS WORTH

“Such is the state of life, that none are happy but by the anticipation of change; the change itself is nothing; when we have made it, the next wish is to change again. The world is not yet exhausted; let me see something tomorrow which I never saw be.” (Samuel Johnson, English poet, critic and writer)

“Fear is pain arising from the anticipation of evil.” (Aristotle, ancient Greek philosopher)

I get asked about this 2012 shift all of the time. I have done extensive reading about and listening to different ideas about this most interesting subject and have seen every thing from aliens coming to help/take over to the total end of everything BUT… I have the feeling that it is something else.

Maybe this is just the next stage of life. Maybe it is our wake up call to become more in tune with the planet on which we depend for ABSOUTLEY EVERYTHING and with each other. If we are not in vibrational harmony with either ourselves as the human animal and the other life forms that share our home, and we systematically destroy where we are living, something will change (probably not for the better). The planet, our home, is a living, breathing, changing being. It is older that we are and has existed in harmony with itself for a long time. Then we come along and start ‘improving’ things to our supposed benefit. Think about the building in which you live; if you don’t maintain it, vibrate with it, love it what happens? OK now taking that one step further, if you were actively tearing down the walls to build something else, using its resources to the detriment of the structure and foundation, how long would you have a place to live? Well, what have we done to our sustaining earth?

If we are not in vibrational harmony with the energies around us we will continue to rape and deconstruct our very habitat, as we’ve already done that to species after species, and are now doing to ourselves, causing us be blindsided by any change that happens. Everything is energy and so is constantly moving, changing, ebbing and flowing. If you try to not be in this energy flow, to stop it, hold it in stasis, to be out of harmony with it you live in chaos, pain and confusion and quite possibly destruction within both your world and your personal energy field(s).

OK, fine, what can we do to ‘go with the flow’? Have you ever heard of the “7Ps”? It is a business term I learned many years ago that seems appropriate here. “Proper Prior Preparation Prevents Piss-Poor Performance.” So, 1) tune into the energies around and within you. Do everything you can to live ‘green’ It may be too little too late but if we don’t start, nothing will be accomplished. Recycle, reduce, support appropriate legislature etc. 2) Get ready. Develop your conscious awareness and have a real, solid belief system. Plant, nourish both yourself and your planet. 3) Cleanse your self, energetically and spiritually. Connect with your light body. Live cleanly with a lowered impact on the earth. How long can you stand to be abused? Then why ask it of your home? 4) Integrate your body, mind and spirit and awareness, and 5) Rid yourself of fear, all of it. Don’t anticipate bad things; step out in love and trust.

In actuality the shift has already started and there are those among us who have been charged by their Guidance to become the light workers, guides, gatekeepers, and spiritual leaders (notice I did not say religious) to step into the role of beacons to show the way. The ones who have been saying, “Wake up and see how we are abusing our resources!” were some of the first and for the most part, we didn’t listen, maybe now is a good time?

Now this is a fact that I find most wonderful; Conscious Awareness of the shift is spontaneously happening and growing. As more and more of us wake up and reconnect to Source energy (the energy of the divine, soul to soul, life to planet) we are creating a harmonic resonance that spreads across the planet and universe. People are trying harder to work with rather than against Nature. Because like attracts like, this new resonance pulls the shifting energy closer to the enlightened who are raising their vibrations higher and faster in order to meet and join with the new energy. Blending our personal vibrations with what is changing, vibrating over, under, around and through our existence and our planet, we find that, much like floating down a river, we become one with the change. If on the other hand we choose to fight against the energetic flow, we will find the disastrous results that we were afraid of in the first place. (Because of lower, fear-filled vibrations that do not fit within the shift)

When we change our thoughts, perceptions, attitudes and open ourselves to new patterns, information and ways of thinking about what we encounter daily, we begin to change, become aware of damage that we create both to ourselves and our earth. Things around us begin to change. We become more and more aware of the things that raise us, enlighten us, feed us and lift us to what some call unconditional love; the love of the forth chakra; the love that unites all things with all things; the love which is Source Energy. This is the energy that is shifting and so, by vibrating with it, we shift too, easily, effortlessly, spontaneously; all without fear, resistance or catastrophe.

As I close I leave you with enlightenment, raised vibrations, new awareness, love and bright blessings. Chessie
