ARE YOU BEING MANIPULATED OR ARE YOU AN ADVERTISING SURVIVOR?
Have you gotten your flu shot to protect you from the flu bug? How worried are you about this years storm predictions? Do you have enough health/ life/ car/ funeral insurance to allow you to feel calm about it? Are you worried about your credit score or identity theft? Are you terrified that your teeth aren't white enough? Are you concerned that you may not have a personal odor that falls within the range of social acceptability? Are your hemorrhoids causing you to be anxious in public. Do you lack the confidence that you know what to call the new toilet paper, wet wipe combination? Are you jonesing for the latest kitchen gadget, easy weight loss/ hair removal/ light your darkest corner appliance/ bed billow or back pain relief offering? And, to top it off, are you living in terror that you might miss the program being advertised on the screen, in the middle of the one you are trying to watch at the moment?
If you feel any discomfort about any or all of the above, if you can think of some I haven't mentioned then you are a victim of advertising manipulation.
OK then, how do they do it? How do they get you to sucked into these things? They start with the program you are watching, yes, even the good ones, the informative and educational ones. The programs use frequencies that put you into a light hypnotic state that keep you watching until the next advertising break. The commercial amps up the rhythms, sounds and colors to “wake you up” and get your attention. The people in the ads use the tone of voice and speech rhythms appropriate to the product to lull you, or excite you or scare you into having an emotional reaction to the product. There you are, hooked and ready to run down the road for that burger or what ever it was that caught your attention. So what do you do to become an advertising survivor?
The easy answer is to turn off the television or radio but there are other methods assaulting you from all directions. The article “Children, Adolescents, and Advertising” from the American Academy of Pediatrics says: "The average young person views more than 3000 ads per day on television (TV), on the Internet, on billboards, and in magazines" and it gives the source as : Goodman E. Ads pollute most everything in sight. Albuquerque Journal. June 27, 1999:C3. I am not trying to scare you but you should be in the “concerned” category by now. So what can you do? I feel that the overall answer is to become aware.
Pay attention to what your environment is holding and presenting to you. Look away, don't read something just because it is in front of your eyes. Know how color and sound affect you. Enlighten yourself so that you have confidence in your own opinion of what is right FOR YOU. Do a bit of research before you buy and teach your children awareness of these tools of manipulation. Explain it to them, they are children, yes. They want stuff, yes. But with a little thoughtful communication on your part, they will understand and grow into an enlightened consumer and you have helped yourself in the same direction.
To help you out, here is some information about color to show you what I mean;
Black
Black is the color of authority and power. Judges and security people wear black as a symbol of authority. It is a popular color in the fashion world because it makes people appear thinner. It is also timeless. Black also shows submission. Priests and nuns wear black or dark brown to symbolize submission to God. Black outfits can also be overpowering, or make the wearer appear aloof or evil. MUSIC: with “dark and depressing” rhythms carry those frequencies too. You can entrain with them and begin to feel morose and sad.
White
In some cultures, brides wear white to symbolize innocence and purity. In other cultures, white is worn by mourners to symbolize death. White reflects the entire spectrum light and is considered cool so is thought of a summer color. White is popular in decorating and in fashion because it is light, neutral, and goes with everything. It shows dirt easily and is therefore more difficult to keep clean than other colors but doctors and nurses wear white to imply sterility because the color “feels” clean to the observer.
Red; the longest, slowest visible frequency in the human spectrum of sight.
It is one of the most emotionally intense colors and stimulates a faster heartbeat and breathing. It is also considered to be the color of love. Red clothing can make the person look heavier. Since it is a confrontational color, red clothing might not be helpful to wear in negotiations or confrontations. Red cars are popular targets for thieves. They are usually insured higher because the driver is considered to be a bit more aggressive because red cars are involved in more wrecks. In decorating, red is usually used as an accent color. Red, orange and bright yellow are often used in restaurant decorating schemes because it is an appetite stimulant. (you will notice that they play fast music in there to get you in and out fast) (Slower music is used with soothing colors in grocery stores and department stores to keep you there and shopping)
Blue
Is the color of the sky and sea and is one of the most popular colors. The peacefulness, tranquility of blue causes the body to produce calming chemicals, so it is often used in bedrooms, Dr.s offices and clinics. Blue can also feel cold and depressing. Fashion consultants recommend wearing blue to job interviews because it symbolizes loyalty. People are more productive in blue rooms. Studies show people can accomplish great things in blue rooms such as weightlifters being able to handle heavier weights in blue gyms. FYI; While blue is one of the most popular colors it is one of the least appetizing. Blue food is not readily found in nature and researchers say that when humans searched for food, they learned to avoid toxic or spoiled objects, which were often blue, black, or purple. When food dyed blue or green (something that is not supposed to be green, such eggs and ham) is served to people, they will lose their appetite.
Green
Currently the most popular decorating color, green makes you think of nature. It is the easiest color on the eye and can improve vision. It is a calming, refreshing color. People waiting to appear on TV sit in "green rooms" to relax. Hospitals often use green because it relaxes patients. In the Middle Ages, brides wore green to symbolize fertility. Dark green is masculine, conservative, and implies wealth. Green is not used in packaging meat products because it puts people off.
Yellow
Sunny yellow is a cheerful eye catcher. Even though it is considered an optimistic color, it causes people to lose their tempers more often and makes babies cry more. It is the most difficult color for the eye to take in so if it is too prevalent, it will overpower the observer. A yellow house will sell faster that on of another color. It also enhances concentration, that is why it is used for legal pads. It also speeds metabolism and some studies have shown that it lightens depression.
Purple
The color of royalty, purple connotes luxury, wealth, and sophistication, wisdom and creativity. The color uplifts spirits, calms the mind, and relaxes the nerves. Also been known to affect stimulation of the brain in problem solving. Some say it aids in healing.
Brown
Brown is the color of earth and its solidity. Light brown implies genuineness while dark brown is similar gives the feeling of stability and support. Brown can also be sad and wistful. Men are more prone to say brown is one of their favorite colors.
We use color, rhythm and frequency all day in our personal lives without recognizing that we do it, it is how we communicate, make decisions and choices. However, when you find yourself doing, purchasing or eating something and you realize you aren't sure why you are doing, buying or eating it, ask yourself what ads have you recently been subjected to. Take stock of your surroundings, what color is the room? Is there music playing and if so, what kind? It there an ad playing where you can hear it?Awareness goes a long way in getting your own power back and being enabling you to keep your center as you lead a more productive, power-filled, aware and focused life.

TODAY
TODAY
Musings of Chessie on a very odd sensation of my life © October 1, 2010
Today feels odd and strange to me
as I wander aimlessly…not so, but feels it, so detached.
Like a wraith I float through
the daily things I need to do,
not without connection, nor
without purpose, but,
seemingly without anchor of body to hold me;
to keep me here, to enclose my mind.
Should I drift off I’m not sure any one would notice that I’m not here.
At this point I can not tell if I am really here as well.

YOU WILL LOVE YOU WHEN?
My husband and I were reminiscing about life in general a few weeks ago. We started with childhood and remembered all the way up to our current relationship. As we talked I was taken with the patterns that evolved throughout our lives that were so very similar. We both grew up in military families and there was some favoritism for our siblings from the parents. We both had the “changing schools and being left behind” issues that most, if not all military children are familiar with. The ways we overcame some of our 'stuff' was the same or close to it. We have both had the same faith revelations over the years and we have decided that we have done fairly well in our evolution.
The thing that I found fascinating was the fact that we have seen each other in our worse situations and still love each other despite that. I commented to him about this aspect of life and he replied, “When we are at our worse is when we need each other the most.” I have to say that this relationship is one I never saw coming and had only read about. I won't say we read each others minds but rarely do we need interpretation. Our comfort level is astounding. Neither of us has anything to prove and we answer each other with complete honesty. I have heard that complete honesty is not doable but I so do not agree anymore.
Cross words are rarely, if ever spoken and comfortable silence is just that, comfortable. We don't have the need to talk unless there is something of merit to say. We laugh a lot and often and unconditional love, understanding, tolerance, open communication and music are the ties that bind.
Waiting for someone to come along while being comfortable in your own skin is not the easiest of endeavors but well worth the effort. On the other hand finding someone that you feel you can change to meet your needs is completely counterproductive and not worthy of you. The only person you can change is you. Attempting to change another is much like trying to push a rope, don't waste your time and energy.
All happiness comes from within YOU, all change comes from within YOU, all love comes from within YOU, all peace comes from within YOU. So when will you choose to love...YOU?

WHAT CAN YOU LEARN FROM THIS? IT IS YOUR NEXT BEST THING!
Cancer. Oh My God, You might have cancer! FEAR! ANXIETY! STRESS! How will you tell the family? Wait! Stop! You don't know anything definite yet, you need to wait for the Dr to call you back. Fear! The fear is overwhelming, you can't breath, you can't think, you can't feel anything but the crippling fear. What are you going to do?
A few years ago this was my life. The waiting was awful, I thought they would never call. I also knew that my habitual thoughts would strongly impact my condition and it's outcome and so I MUST STOP the fear. Stop the thought process that was creating it so the chemicals it was producing would stop. I needed calming, healing chemicals, not the other ones.
So here it is, a big scary ugly thing on your path and you have to walk it alone. You may have support around you but what is going on in your head is all you, what do you do? This is what I did and why it worked.
I decided that if it was the dreaded disease, it was just my next “best thing” and, if I didn't have it. It was also just my next “best thing”. Once I made that decision, the fear diminished drastically and soon subsided all together.. I know, you think I'm nuts but here is how it works and why it is a good idea.
Your body and mind eavesdrop on each other all the time. They use things called neuropeptides to do this. Neuropeptides are small protein-like molecules used by your neurons to communicate with each other. When you think a thought, these little communication devises jump into action and broadcast the thought out to your entire body. For instance, have you ever seen a thing you thought was dangerous and before you realized it you were running away from it? When you calmed down and went back to look closer you found it was a just a shadow or a fuzzy or the garden hose? That is the speed and intensity this communication has. Now, not only is it fast but other things are going on at the same time. Because of you thought “yikes a snake!” the chemicals that amp you up to run for safety shoot out in just the right dose to rapidly move you from point A to point B. They affect your heart, breathing muscles and blood flow. Your eyes will show more white and you may let out a yelp of fear. All of this is caused by the thought that there is a snake. When you realize that is only the garden hose, everything is reversed.
Let's face it fear is fear, snake or cancer. When you see the thing as big and ugly and threatening, you body sends the chemicals to feed that thought, that belief and, sure enough that is what happens. When you can calm that down and send the chemicals that will make it smaller and less frightening, that is what you will get. By detaching from the outcome of the testing, and not allowing fear to drive my thoughts, I was able to create a calmer, more healthy mind-stream.
The detachment I am talking about doesn't mean that you don't care, it just deciding where you want your thoughts and energies to go, what you want them to nourish. You CHOOSE what you want to feed, the fear or the wellness. By seeing your situation, any situation as your 'next best thing' you create a position that puts you into a positive oriented mind set that will allow your best outcome no matter what. Feed your body's positivity and it will flourish. The chemicals that bring assistance and strength to you will flood your system, thereby raising you above the fear line and into a more healing place from which to work. Bright Blessings, Chessie
