CLARITY; WE ALL NEED IT IN OUR LIFE

                              CLARITY,
WE ALL NEED IT IN OUR LIFE

As an energy worker/healer and musician I work a lot with sound, tones, frequencies and rhythms. I am also interested in color. Colors have frequencies also and, to my delight, I have found that their frequencies vibrate with some of the sound frequencies that I have been working with lately.

As I have worked with these energies and frequencies, I have found the the clearer the vibration, the clearer and purer the information I get. During meditation a few days ago it came to me that this is true with all that we do, think and say. As we gain clarity in our actions, thoughts and speech; our actions, decisions and perceptions become clearer and purer as well. We lose the feeling that we need others to agree with our ideas in order to make the right decisions. We begin to rely on our own intuition and guidance as to what feels correct to us. The need to “stretch the truth” or to obfuscate the facts of a situation disappears. Truth and clarity become second nature and feels more entrained with our core values. When/if we try to go back to our old way, we find it uncomfortable and distressing.

Clarity and purity of thought, word and deed is the harbinger of peace, bliss and no judgment. Try it, I think you will like it. “May the entire Universe be filled with Peace and Joy, Love and Light. May the light of Truth overcome all darkness! Victory to that Light! Jai!”{Swami Satchidananda} Namaste, Chessie

Being in Your Now

Being in Your Now

A group that I was in recently asked why we should be in the moment, in the now. How to get there and how we stay there in our day-to-day life. Some of the responses were things such as, why is this important/” and “it's too hard”. The one the really made me realize that the group was not “getting” the concept was when someone said, “I have to get out of the now to let my mind rest and to stay sane.”

The fact is that staying in your now will do just that, allow your mind to rest and keep you sane. Think about it, if you are not into what you are doing, who you are with and/or where you are at any given moment what is going on in your mind? For most people the mind is bouncing back and forth between what you wish you had done, what you feel you should have done in the past and what you are going to do , how you are going to do it and with whom in the future. Because of this unfocused state, what you are doing at the present moment is not done well or correctly, and this gives you something to grind on and worry about later while trying to do something else. Do you see the cycle here? This will create stress, fear, apprehension and distress; all leading to some sort of dis-ease in your biology. This thought state also makes time seem to drag out to uncomfortable duration and keeps you unhappy in your present and fretful about the consequences of your past actions and apprehensive about future plans.

Now, if you are attending to what you are doing right now, in this minute, you have no agitation or upset. You are focused on right now. In this way you become consciously aware of the joy of time well spent in purposeful activity. You will be assured that you did your best and you will actually find joy in the moment (because you aren't worried about all the other stuff) You will notice things that passed you by before because you were distracted, you will enjoy even mundane tasks more because of your focus and you will not feel spread too thin. These feelings will occur spontaneously because your mind is free of tormenting “wish I had”, “I should have”, “gosh I could have”, “why didn't I” type thoughts. Nor are you plagued by the “what is next” thing encroaching on your mind and, you find peace.

This is why and how meditation works, as your mind becomes quiet, your body becomes peaceful. When you learn how to live that way all of the time, you begin to live in peace, grace and understanding dawns upon you.

Next question is how do I do this “staying in my now” thing? It is an inherent trait; you are born with this ability. Watch a child at play how many times does Mom have to call before the child realizes there is something going on outside his now? In actuality you, as an adult, do it more than you think. Remember a time when you were doing something that made time seem to stand still? You were doing it then. Just become consciously aware of what you are doing, where you are doing it and with whom, even if it is just yourself. That is being in your now. Yes, it is a process; yes, you have to work at it a bit and truly all you need to do is to remember it. Anything you have ever done required the same investment to make it a part of your daily life. Learning to walk, talk, drive and yes to think. This is just a calmer, more productive, satisfying and peaceful way to do the thinking.

I congratulate you on your decision to pursue this path and I wish you Love, Light, Laughter and Bright Blessings as well as new things to grace your path. Chessie

YOUR MIND AND THE SKY

YOUR MIND AND THE SKY

I woke up early one morning and decided to meditate on the porch in the cool of the morning. My mind was doing that thing it likes to do sometimes when it just refuses to be still and wants to act like an over stimulated two-year-old, so I gave in and decided to just enjoy the now and be the observer of my morning. The breeze was deliciously refreshing, and the birds were just beginning to awaken. One would twitter off in the distance, then another a little closer. The sun was still well below the treetops, and the early train blew to announce its pending arrival in the city.

As I sipped my coffee and let my mind have its way, my attention was drawn to movement overhead. Looking up, I had a beautiful view of the early morning blue sky way up overhead, calm, serene and completely unconcerned about anything going on below. A little lower than the blue were bright white, feathery clouds that did not appear to move. Lower than the feathers were large fluffy towers of a not quite so white clouds, tinged pink by the sun on top and shading into a light grey toward their bottom, that were moving along at a respectable pace. Lower still, so low in fact that I felt I could have touched them with my hand had I stood on the table where my coffee sat were very thin, angry looking, dark gray wispy clouds that were scudding along so fast you have thought they were being chased.

As I watched the play of sky and the three layers of clouds it struck me that the difference in the clouds appearance and speed was rather like the mind. The angry grey ones were acting like my unruly disrespectful mind was acting; full of thoughts I would rather not entertain and scudding rapidly, not calming down when I asked. The big fluffy sun-tinged ones were similar to thoughts that I have on a daily basis, rosy in places and darker than I would like in others.

They moved ponderously and deliberately like my average day ran. The high, still ones made me decide that they were the thoughts just before meditation, light airy and barely moving at all. And there, beyond all this colorful, multi-shaped movement was the sky. Blue and still, always there whether I could see it or not it would be there, just being very much like the quiet, still mind in mediation, totally unaffected by the clouds. As I sat and considered this play of cloud and sky, I slipped, unnoticed into meditation where I stayed until the sun peeked over the treetops and shown in my face. Surprised and blinking like I had just come out of a movie theater I realized three things.

1) that I had enjoyed a beautiful insight and lesson;

2) that I was ready to go inside and get another cup of coffee and

3) My backside was ready for a softer chair.

Coffee replenished, and my softer chair acquired and unwilling to give up my feeling of calm and quiet, I decided to read in my yoga book before starting to work.  I opened the book at my marked place and began to read. Imagine my surprise when I read; “…do not try to impose any conditions on your meditation. Simply turn your attention and meditate on the knower who is always aware. Do not worry if your mind spins. So many clouds come and go in the sky, but the sky remains pure; it is not affected by the clouds. In the same way, when thoughts arise and disperse in the mind, the Self is not disturbed by them.  If you can, clear your thoughts away. If you cannot, try to perceive the witness of those thoughts.  If you focus on that witness, the thoughts will calm on their own.”

The Law of Attractions lessons flooded in upon me as I sat thinking about what I had just experienced and read just behind it. With lessons learned and internalized it came to me that I should share them with you. So, I punched on my computer and…  Bright Blessings to you all. Chessie

WHY AND HOW SHOULD I MEDITATE?

WHY AND HOW SHOULD I MEDITATE?

I have been asked about meditation and how to use it properly many times so I decided to address the question this week.

Meditation and the quieting of the mind is a method by which you can listen to and hear what the Universe and the Guides have to tell you. When you pray, you are asking for something. If you pray with intent, gratitude and love you are more likely to receive what you ask for because of the vibrations you put out. But the act of meditation allows you to "just be". It allows you to take in the quiet noise of the music of the Universe. It attunes you to the vibrations of the creative energies of the Universe, the energies from which you came.

That re-connect is what aware, awake humanity strives for and meditation is one way to achieve it. Most who come to me with this question think that quieting one’s mind is like flipping a switch and I assure you that it is not like that at all. Just as with any worthwhile pursuit, it is a practiced and learned thing. You must truly want to achieve the ‘quiet’ and practice getting there each day. To attempt it a few times and then give up will gain you nothing.

My suggestions for beginners are first, determine a time of your day that is the least involved. This will not be the same for everyone, this is YOUR schedule. Then turn off all the phones and the louder appliances, darken the room if you can, take off your glasses if you wear them and close your eyes. Breathe deeply and blow it out, letting go of all stress and the ‘stuff’ of your day. You may need to do this several times to get it all out but that is ok.

As you let go of your day, feel yourself sink into being one with the energies around you. This too will require practice so don’t be discouraged. I suggest a mantra to help keep your conscious mind busy so that you can concentrate on what your subconscious mind is telling you. A mantra can be any power word or phrase that is a positive and easy to repeat or it can just be Ohm (the sound of the Universe) you just continue to repeat it as your mind slows down.

You will have what I call busy thoughts such as; what should I fix for dinner, the project is due tomorrow, why am I sitting here…etc. When it happens (it is normal, don’t panic) just let the thoughts pass through, don’t address them or deal with them, just let them go. At first you will feel inundated and a little overwhelmed but as you continue, they will become less and less frequent and demanding. If there seem to be some that just will not leave you alone, write them down to relegate them to ‘later’. By putting them on paper, you let your mind know that the thing is not forgotten but that it (your mind) does not have to hold on to the thought for you. That is what most of your busy thoughts are, your minds attempt to remember everything, writing the events down lets your mind move on to other things.

I have been doing this for many years and, as I become more and more tuned in; I am also becoming able to 'feel' messages form the cosmos as they come to me during the day. This is something you can achieve and the benefits are many.

I wish you well and Bright Blessings, Chessie
