SELF ESTEEM/WORTH AND THE LAW OF ATTRACTIONAND EVOLUTION OF SELF; JOURNEY INTO BODY, MIND, SPIRIT BALANCE

SELF ESTEEM, SELF WORTH
THE LAW OF ATTRACTION
AND
EVOLUTION OF SELF;
JOURNEY INTO BODY, MIND, SPIRIT BALANCE

As many of you know, I used to post a daily question on my pages and the other day the question was, “How much value do you place on yourself?” The answers were rather depressing. They ranged from “Not much.” to “If I do have any value, it is in what my family requires of me.”

You may feel that you are “being gracious” by not thinking highly of yourself but you are in actually pulling yourself down into a lowered vibration.

Here is one of the reasons that we have such a low opinion of ourselves; “By the time you're seventeen years old, you've heard "No you can't" an average of 150,000 times. You've heard "Yes you can," about 5,000 times. That's thirty no's for every yes. That makes a powerful belief of "I can't." {p.50 of The Answer by John Assaraf & Murray Smith} This makes it pretty clear why we habitually think what we habitually think. But here is the good news, we can change that, and here is why you should.

It may seem that a high opinion of yourself has no place in a philosophy like the Law of Attraction but in truth, it has everything to do with it. You can do all the “exercises” you want, follow all the rules and still not attract what you want. Why you ask? If you don't feel worthy way down inside, you will not attract what you are attempting to attract.

If you don't believe that you are a worthy, capable person; if you do not value yourself then no one else will either. More to the point those are the vibrations you are putting out to the universe and, consequently, they are the ones you will receive. Like attracts like, remember? All of this is part of what you feel you deserve out of life. If you believe you are worthy of and deserve the best, then that is what you will attract.

Then there is what you believe you are capable of achieving in life. If you feel, in your subconscious that you deserve to be happy and make the changes you need to make it happen, then you will be happy. However, if you don't believe these things, you could find yourself stuck where you would rather not be.

If you aren't sure whether or not you are in your own way, ask yourself how you react to negative parts of your life? Do you “lie down and take it?” Or do you decide to change what you feel needs changing? Do you believe you deserve the best out of life? Do you believe you are able to make your dreams a reality? Do you believe you already have or are able to learn the skills required to get what you want? Have you chosen to look within for the confident attitude to move in your chosen direction?

If you are working to change and truly believe you can do it, you are stepping out in courage and exercising your belief in yourself. If not, then you are holding yourself back and maybe it would be good to start working on changing your attitude about you.

Your self-worth depends on the habitual way you treat yourself as well as your innermost beliefs about your personality. So, in order to improve your self-worth, you can get started by working on a few things such as the following.

First, I tell you that the way you speak to yourself is crucial. If, when you think/talk to yourself you are critical and judgmental you will lower your own self esteem to the detriment of your body, mind and spirit.

If, on the other hand, you are gentle, understanding and forgiving of yourself, you will create healthy reactions, calm mindset and positive attitudes about you and your life. This will lead to attracting these things to you. If you are conscious and aware, you should see results in a few weeks.

The next thing you can do is get in the habit of taking action toward your desires. If you believe in you enough to take your first step toward what you want and away from what you don't want, you are acting “in courage and faith”. Both of these will raise your feeling of self-worth.

You take away the feeling of being trapped because you are in action. Do this without concerning yourself with the outcome, do what feels right and seldom will you go wrong. Start with small steps, if you feel a little nervous about it, that's OK, feel it and step out anyway.

This will motivate you to step further next time. If it turns out you made a mistake, so what, forgive yourself, learn from it and start over. For instance, you feel that you just cannot speak in public and, because of this belief in yourself, you can't. Join a class on public speaking, learn how and practice. This action will change your belief, and you will find you can do what you thought you could not. See how that works?

If you do not believe in yourself, those around you will notice because your attitude spills out onto them. Both your attitudes about yourself and your attitudes about others and what you believe can be accomplished will shine like a beacon and people respond to it. If you don't believe you are competent to do a thing, you will be too scared to try so you get nowhere and become stuck.

If, on the other hand you step out of your comfort zone and find you can do a thing, the next time will be easier, this raises your confidence, and you will have less difficulty in trying something else. It all comes down to what you think you deserve. You then attract the people and circumstances to confirm your feelings of self-worth.

Your next step is to take responsibility for your life up to now. Don't beat yourself up for things you don't feel good about or mistakes you've made. Forgive yourself and others, choose to make better choices in the future and move forward.

Your next thing is to have and show respect for yourself and what you stand for. If someone uses language that you feel is offensive, either to you or those around you, let them know. You can do this without arguing or being abusive, you can always leave. If someone crosses one of your core values, let them know that you will not engage in that behavior. If you don't respect yourself, no one else will either. As you act in ways that are worthy of you, you begin to attract people of higher frequency that will value you and themselves as well. That is how the Law of Attraction works, right? Right!

These are a few ways to get you started in the right direction to create your wonderful life your way. Step out, let your new light shine and enjoy being your awesome self! Bright Blessings, Chessie

Being in Your Now

Being in Your Now

A group that I was in recently asked why we should be in the moment, in the now. How to get there and how we stay there in our day-to-day life. Some of the responses were things such as, why is this important/” and “it's too hard”. The one the really made me realize that the group was not “getting” the concept was when someone said, “I have to get out of the now to let my mind rest and to stay sane.”

The fact is that staying in your now will do just that, allow your mind to rest and keep you sane. Think about it, if you are not into what you are doing, who you are with and/or where you are at any given moment what is going on in your mind? For most people the mind is bouncing back and forth between what you wish you had done, what you feel you should have done in the past and what you are going to do , how you are going to do it and with whom in the future. Because of this unfocused state, what you are doing at the present moment is not done well or correctly, and this gives you something to grind on and worry about later while trying to do something else. Do you see the cycle here? This will create stress, fear, apprehension and distress; all leading to some sort of dis-ease in your biology. This thought state also makes time seem to drag out to uncomfortable duration and keeps you unhappy in your present and fretful about the consequences of your past actions and apprehensive about future plans.

Now, if you are attending to what you are doing right now, in this minute, you have no agitation or upset. You are focused on right now. In this way you become consciously aware of the joy of time well spent in purposeful activity. You will be assured that you did your best and you will actually find joy in the moment (because you aren't worried about all the other stuff) You will notice things that passed you by before because you were distracted, you will enjoy even mundane tasks more because of your focus and you will not feel spread too thin. These feelings will occur spontaneously because your mind is free of tormenting “wish I had”, “I should have”, “gosh I could have”, “why didn't I” type thoughts. Nor are you plagued by the “what is next” thing encroaching on your mind and, you find peace.

This is why and how meditation works, as your mind becomes quiet, your body becomes peaceful. When you learn how to live that way all of the time, you begin to live in peace, grace and understanding dawns upon you.

Next question is how do I do this “staying in my now” thing? It is an inherent trait; you are born with this ability. Watch a child at play how many times does Mom have to call before the child realizes there is something going on outside his now? In actuality you, as an adult, do it more than you think. Remember a time when you were doing something that made time seem to stand still? You were doing it then. Just become consciously aware of what you are doing, where you are doing it and with whom, even if it is just yourself. That is being in your now. Yes, it is a process; yes, you have to work at it a bit and truly all you need to do is to remember it. Anything you have ever done required the same investment to make it a part of your daily life. Learning to walk, talk, drive and yes to think. This is just a calmer, more productive, satisfying and peaceful way to do the thinking.

I congratulate you on your decision to pursue this path and I wish you Love, Light, Laughter and Bright Blessings as well as new things to grace your path. Chessie

STAYING IN THE NOW

STAYING IN THE NOW; YOUR NOW

This is a subject that seems to be in the foreground of a lot of seekers lately and one I too am working on. I find that 'staying in my now' helps me stay consciously aware of my thoughts and where they are at any given moment.

Just like everyone else’s, my mind wanders of its own volition, most often in the direction of what is next on my to-do-list and I have to gently bring it back to 'now'. The other direction is also often problematic, as in what “should I  have done instead of…”

I have found that the body, mind connection can be a difficult thing to harness; much like attempting to gently guide a rambunctious toddler or herd rabbits. It is a process, like so many others, of constant awareness and action. Every time I catch myself in one of these ‘off directions’ I MUST stop that process and come back to my now. This needs to be done with love, understanding and compassion and forgiveness for our self. It should also be done without judgment or criticism, there is too much of that flying around out there as it is.

As I continue to remind myself of the importance of staying in my now, without judgment, apology, explanation or analysis of myself, I will attain the state of calm, clarity in the now for which I am searching. And here, I challenge you to do the same, love yourself, be gentle with yourself and become consciously aware of staying in your “now”. You will find great peace as well as wonderful opportunities for spiritual, mental and emotional growth. Bright Blessings, C. S. Roberts

WHAT WE THINK WE CARRY

                    WHAT WE THINK WE CARRY

“Don’t carry nothin’ that might be a load, just ease on down the road.” (from The Wiz)

Describe yourself in one word. That’s OK, I’ll wait…
What did you come up with? The color of your skin? Your job description? Your role in your family? Your religion? Hair color? Your ethnicity? Well I tell you that all of these ideas about what you think make up the real you, are just a load that you are carrying and you can put it down, if you choose to do so.

I’m reminded of the story about the young man who was looking for gold. He took a large backpack with him on his quest and when he found a rock he would carefully examine it to see if it was gold or not. As he determined that each rock in its turn was NOT the gold he was searching for, he placed the rock in his backpack. Pretty soon he was exhausted and sat down to rest. While he rested, he looked into the back pack and wept because there were so many stones that were not gold. He felt defeated, helpless and without worth and so decided to abandon his quest because his load was too heavy.

As people, we do this all the time. We look at what we think we are and then we look at all the baggage we feel goes along with what we think we are and weep because our load is too heavy. How do we fix this you might ask? The answer is very simple, find out what we really are; it is a one-word answer and has no attending baggage.

We are quite simply a soul. Each and every one of us is a piece of the divine consciousness, made of and from the Divine. Always connected to that from which we were made whether we realize it or not. Once we embrace our true essence, our core, our source; our load disappears, becomes effortless and becomes joy. Are you ready to know your true self? Are you ready to stop struggling with burdens of your own making? Are you ready to let go and just be? Are you ready to be the joy-filled, spontaneous and loving individual that you were intended to be. Then know yourSelf, embrace your SELF and just be…

I wish you Bright Blessings, spontaneity and love, C. S. Roberts

QUESTIONS FROM OUR INNER CRITIC

           QUESTIONS FROM OUR INNER CRITIC

I was recently asked these thought-provoking questions by a friend of mine, “How do you decide where to draw your line in the sand of what you will and won’t do, where you will and won’t go? How do you stick to those boundaries?

After a bit of thought I realized that I go by my guidance and core values. Now to some of you these words are old friends and for some they are new concepts so I will explain.

Your core values are those values that you hold in the very center of you, in that special place where the hard shining truth of who and what you truly are; that place where no one goes but you. Those values are the ones that you will always uphold, the ones you will never forsake or allow others to push you across. They are different for each of us and if you have not decided what yours are I strongly suggest that you do so. Like the song says,” You’ve got to stand for something, or you’ll fall for anything…”

Guidance is the still small voice that we often totally disregard. Over the years of listening to others in our lives that we feel know more than we do, that inner voice of guidance has been drowned out because it is so quiet and the world is so loud. Meditation is one of the ways we learn how to listen again. Guidance will never lead us in the wrong direction once we learn to hear and understand.

My friends’ next question was, “What about in times of great change?”

My answer was the same. This is not an easy answer, and it came after a lifetime of doubting myself and living my life by committee. You see, we are taught to listen to the village that raises us and to stop listening to our ‘self’ (I am talking about our instincts) as well as our ‘Self’ (here I refer to our higher spiritual voices, the ones who truly know the answers) and listen to the people by whom we are surrounded. The ones who want us to think and feel the way that they do so that they are comfortable in their status quo. When we begin to follow our true path(s), we have the tendency to upset those around us who don’t want to be around growth.
The next thing she told me was that she tended to doubt herself too much and think too much. This was causing her to feel that she is learning patience.

My response to this is, the reason we do this to ourselves is, again, that committee that always seems to know more about how we should be feeling and what we should be doing than we, who are living our life know about it. They mean well but their constant input creates doubt and the tendency to over think everything.

The other side of this coin is that the constant input triggers our ‘shut down’ mode and we don’t listen to anything from anywhere and we stumble around in ignorance, sometimes getting it right but, most of the time making the same mistakes over and over again. In order to break this cycle, we need to master the virtues of patience, the ability to let go, the ability to listen and believe in ourselves and our inner and divine guidance.

She then told me that her problem is her need to learn to believe; to build her own faith. She told me that she feels that it’s happening slowly.

I know all of you have heard the adage that “Seeing is believing.” And sometimes this is the case BUT, when you get into those higher levels of spirit and vibration (which is where this type of questioning occurs) you find that to believe is to see. Trust me when I tell you that the journey is rough because we are stubborn and don’t (at first) want to let go of those things we think we know, but as we come to truly understand and learn how to listen to our innate core values and guidance you will find that it is so worth the effort.

Happy growth and Bright Blessings,

Chessie

HOW DO YOU SEE YOUR SITUATION?

HOW DO YOU SEE YOUR SITUATION?

In any given situation you have choices. You can choose to be the victim of the situation, or you can choose to rise above it and make it a learning and growing experience for yourself. Self-pity stops you cold, so decide that the situation is your next best thing. Look for the positive aspects of it and act on them.

I challenge you to truly and objectively look at your situation. Where and what are the positive aspects of it? What of the negative aspects can you turn into positive ones? How can you now benefit from this new viewpoint? If you look at a seemingly “bad” situation as your “next best thing” you will find the “good” in it for you.

Just as slow motion and stop action still photography gives you an opportunity to reevaluate what you thought you saw, so does slowing down and honestly analyze your situation. This reexamining will reveal secrets and clues within the situation that you would otherwise miss. This allows you the opportunity to see the true good in your situation, to change your perception of it and turn it toward your benefit; to make it your next best thing.

So when you feel that your situation is beyond redemption, slow down, reexamine and search out those hidden positives and turn a negative into your next best thing and grow.

Bright Blessings, Chessie

Don’t Let Life Discourage You

                     Don’t Let Life Discourage You

“Don’t let life discourage you; everyone who got where he has had to begin where he was.” (Richard L. Evans)

Chances are one day you decided to change some things in your life. You were where you were and somehow it just didn’t quite feel right, it didn’t fit. It may have been any one of a number of things, a notion that feels wrong now, an old piece of knowledge that you have just found out was incorrect information or, possibly you have found that a way of thinking about some issue or group now seems unworthy of you. Whatever made you wake up and realize that self-improvement was in order is to be applauded.

Changing anything requires you to start somewhere and I suggest that where ever you find yourself is the perfect place for you to begin. The simple fact that you have come to this conclusion is an awesome step for you, for everyone trying to make their lives better.

Start with baby steps, they get better results and as you see progress you will be encouraged to keep going. Self-improvement is always time invested in your most valuable asset, you. Like the instructions when you are on a plane to put the oxygen mask on yourself before helping the person next to you; if you are not in a healthy, whole, balanced place you can’t help anyone else.

Even if you can respect someone for being a mess because you’re a mess too, you don’t have to stay that way. Learn to respect yourself for the right reasons and watch your mess straighten out.

Some of your baby steps might be to think of all the things you feel are important to you; then ask yourself if they are worthy of you? Do they raise your vibrations? Do they move you to grow? Would they be precious to you if they were suddenly gone? If so then enjoy, if not then lose them because when you change how and what you think about, how and what you think about changes.

To get to the good things in life not only do you need to make changes in the way you think and perceive things, you have to let your walls down and take the chance that you might get hurt; this is better than feeling nothing and, as you grow toward your goals of wholeness and betterment, the absence of walls will allow your feelings to become those of joy that all of us want to achieve.

Remember that life, especially a conscious and aware one doesn’t just happen; it requires your participation so participate with joy, empathy and balance of body, mind and spirit. Know too as you work that you are the bridge between where you are now and where you want to be and that the only person who can get you there is you.

I wish you an awesome journey and Bright Blessings. Chessie

Fable of the Porcupines

                                                                  A prickle of porcupines

                        Fable of the Porcupines

It was the coldest winter ever and many animals were dying because of it. The porcupines, realizing that the situation had become dire, decided to group together to share their body heat. This way they covered and protected themselves and each other. A problem arose because the quills of each of the porcupines wounded their closest companions and even though they gave heat to each other the damage of the quills was making their decision problematic.

After a long discussion they decided that they needed to distance themselves one from the other to avoid hurting each other anymore that they had already. Because of the low temperature, the animals began to die, alone and frozen. The group then realized that another choice had to be made either they accept and adjust their quills while accepting and adjusting to the quills of their companions or disappear from the Earth.

Wisely, the porcupines decided to go back to being a unified group, working together to do what they could to help each other. With their new adjusted attitude and insight, they learned to hold their quills in such a way as not to create so much damage to their fellows and to live with the little wounds that were still caused by the close relationship with their companions. By accepting and adjusting to those around them, each one was able to benefit from the heat, companionship and strength that came from the others. In this new mindset they were able to survive.

The lesson here is that the best relationship is not the one that brings together perfect people in perfect situations, but the one in which each individual learns to live with the imperfections of, not only themselves, but those of others. In doing so can also admire and appreciate the other person's good qualities.

The unconditional love that we find in maturity, growth, acceptance and understanding will create a radiance that permeates everything that it touches. We also learn where to let go and where to hold on and all of this will generate healing, understanding, tolerance and love in everyone with whom it comes in contact. This spontaneous event is what raises vibrations, heals ALL things and allows us to become more consciously aware and closer to the whole balanced person that we desire to be.

WHAT ARE YOU CREATING? SOME QUESTIONS FOR GROWTH

                    WHAT ARE YOU CREATING?

                 SOME QUESTIONS FOR GROWTH

A positive, focused, conscious aware life does not just happen, you must create it. And that is where Evolution of Self; Journey into Mind, Body, Spirit Balance is set to take you.

Are you grounded? Connected to your source, the one which sustains and supports you? Are you centered? Is your energy system open enough to allow the free flow of Natures energies through you; energies that connect you to your world and the Universe?

Do speak to yourself in a correct, loving and positive manner? Does this include others with whom you come in contact? Do you lift others to their best advantage? Are you empathetic? Do you put your wellbeing first so that you are strong enough to help others? Do accept what you are truly responsible for? Can you keep your cool in an intense situation?

Can you clearly visualize your goals so that you recognize them when you get there? Can you communicate this vision to another? Do you consciously shield yourself from negative input (as best you can)?

Can you/do you surrender all fears to the flow of Universal energy? Can you/do you accept that you and others make mistakes, sometimes grievous ones, and not allow those mistakes to cloud or poison your mind and forgive? Do you/can you accept and forgive your own shortcomings? Do you/can you accept that love is energy and so will always be a part of you and be born again as new loves? Can you/do you accept you as you are by changing for the better what you feel you need to change and genuinely love yourself? Do you/can you accept the cosmic truth ‘that all is one’ and feel connected? Can you/do you let things (material, emotional and spiritual) go because you know that since all is one, nothing and no one is ever lost to you or gone from you?

If you have answered “No” to any of these questions then there is room to work to regain your mind, body, spirit balance.

Bright Blessings, Chessie
