Subject: 5-Minute Life Management Course; Lessons for Everything

Lesson 1:

A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower,

when the doorbell rings.

The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs.

When she opens the door, there stands Bob , the next-door neighbor..

Before she says a word, Bob says, 'I'll give you $800 to drop that towel.

After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked

in front of Bob , after a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 and leaves.

The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs.

When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, 'Who was that?

'It was Bob the next door neighbor,' she replies.

'Great,' the husband says, 'did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?

Moral of the story:

If you share critical information pertaining to what is going on with your finances

with your spouse in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable

exposure, embarrassment and hurt feelings.

Lesson 2:

A priest offered a Nun a lift.

She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg.

The priest nearly had an accident.

After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg.

The nun said, 'Father, remember Psalm 129?

The priest removed his hand. But, changing gears, he let his hand slide

up her leg again.

The nun once again said, 'Father, remember Psalm 129?

The priest apologized 'Sorry sister but the flesh is weak.

Arriving at the convent, the nun sighed heavily and went on her way.

On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It

said, 'Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory.'

Moral of the story:

If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.

Lesson 3:

A man, his wife, and eldest son are walking to lunch

when they find an antique oil lamp.

They rub it and a Genie comes out.

The Genie says, 'I'll give each of you just one wish.

'Me first! Me first!' says the husband 'I want to be in the Bahamas

,
driving a speedboat, without a care in the world.

Puff! He's gone.

'Me next! Me next!' says the son. 'I want to be in Hawaii , relaxing

on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina

Coladas and the sexiest woman in the world.'

Puff! He's gone.

'OK, you're up,' the Genie says to the husband.

The wife says, 'I want those two back at the yard work after lunch.

Moral of the story:

Always let your spouse have the first say.

Lesson 4

An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing.

A small rabbit saw the eagle and asked him, 'Can I also sit like you and

do nothing?

The eagle answered: 'Sure, why not.

So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle and rested. All of a

sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story:

To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

Lesson 5

A turkey was chatting with a bull.

'I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree' sighed the turkey, 'but I

haven't got the energy.

'Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?' replied the bull.

They're packed with nutrients..'

The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and found it actually gave him

enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree.

The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second

branch.

Finally after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at the

top of the tree.

He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree..

Moral of the story:

B. S. might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

Lesson 6

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to

the ground into a large field.

While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung

on him.

As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to

realize how warm he was.

The dung was actually thawing him out!

He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy.

A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate.

Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung,

and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Moral of the story:

Not everyone who craps on you is your enemy.

  1. (2) Not everyone who gets you out of crap is your friend.

(3 ) And when you're in deep crap, it's best to keep your mouth shut! Here endeth the 5

minute life course. Bright Blessings, Light Love and

    Laughter,

A LABEL IS NOT JUST A WORD

A LABEL IS NOT JUST A WORD

A label is a word we use to define a set of characteristics that reveal what we believe about some thing or someone. Trouble comes when we begin to believe something specific about the word that makes up the label and use that label to define other things.

This relegates all things with that particular label to being thought of in a certain way.
These labels can be any word, either positive or negative.

Unfortunately, most carry negative feelings. Words like lazy, slow, stupid create emotions about them and who/what they are attached to. When enough people feel the same way about a label, it becomes a very loaded and powerful word.

Because emotions drive the manifestation of things and situations in our lives, if the labels connotations are negative then there is a big ugly thing floating around out there that will do harm to whoever and whatever it becomes attached to.

The good news here it this can also happen to positive words and feelings. Positively driven feelings are becoming the ‘new thought processes. As more and more of us become aware of the need for balance, positivity and love in our lives, we become aware that we can change and/or eliminate labels that are detrimental. Because we can’t become unaware, we share our new thoughts and feelings with others causing a ripple effect that will grow into a better, more positive and loving culture.

This is beginning to be seen all over the global community and with your help and that of others of the same balanced, positive and loving mindset this can become a very healing change.

By the numbers of groups that follow ideals such as the ones presented in The Law of Attraction, Positive Thinkers, Evolution of Self; Journey into Mind, Body, Spirit Balance, The Healing Power of Sound and the ecology awareness folks we see that many of our race are waking up to the fact that this is the way we need to grow to save ourselves and our planet. So don’t limit yourself by using labels; keep sharing the new
positivity, love and raised vibrations and the world will get better.

Swami Chidvilasananda said, “Once the fountain of love is unlocked in our hearts, we see the magnificence of our existence. With that love we turn this world into a paradise.”

The Lesson here? Label Jars, not people.

THE 4 RELIENCES

    THE 4 RELIENCES

    A Traditional Buddhist Teaching

    1. First, Rely on the teachings, not the personality of the teacher.

Rely on the truth of the teachings, which supports and upholds the truth of the lessons. The teacher may be to your liking but if the lessons hold no merit, then your trust and time are wasted.

    2. Rely on the spirit and meanings of the teachings, not on the words.

    Look deeply into the meaning of the words being presented to you. If you listen and understand shallowly, your growth will be less than if you truly understand the underlying meanings of the teachings. Look as deeply as you can for the true message, each time you do this, your understanding will deepen. Be careful of misunderstanding what the teacher is trying to say for that can lead you in all sorts of wrong directions, ask questions until you are satisfied that your understanding is what it needs to be. “When the finger points to the moon, The(childish) will look at the finger itself. And fools attached to mere language, may think they’ve understood, but they will find it difficult.” {Mipham Rinpoche}

    3. Rely on real wisdom, not a superficial interpenetration.

Do not rely on the temporariness of the lesson, look for the one that touches all levels of your life and teaches what you require. Do not be swayed by flashy words and high-sounding concepts, listen, look for what is real and lasting. Find the specifics of the lesson and see how they apply to where you are on your path at the moment and also where you can go with this information.

    4. Rely on the essence of your pure wisdom mind, not on judgmental perceptions.

Judgment will stop your understanding, growth and learning. Your preconceived notions will keep you from hearing and absorbing new information. As you allow new information without judgment, you will find truth in wonderful and unexpected places.

As you grow in your path, new information will come to you, and reevaluation will be required. Remember that understanding at a lower level may not continue to serve you at higher levels. Never decide that you know everything about anything because this will stop your growth. Always look for the next question, the next answer to keep you moving farther, vibrating higher, and reaching further. Bright Blessings

TO THINK YOU KNOW IS NOT TO SEEK

TO THINK YOU KNOW IS NOT TO SEEK

Study and practice are both very important, but they must go hand in hand. Faith without knowledge is not sufficient. Faith needs to be supported by reason. However, intellectual understanding that is not applied in practice is also of little use. Whatever we learn from study we need to apply sincerely in our daily lives.” {The Dalai Lama} How many books about spiritual practices do you own? How many classes have you taken? How many degrees have been conferred upon you? How many self-help books, classes, and degrees do you have? Now the hard question; What are you doing with all of this information?

Humans seeking enlightenment seem to have a tendency to become collectors of information and, once it has been obtained, we are prone to be proud of its ownership. Our shelves are full of information but what about our lives? Our everyday, mundane, one foot in front of the other lives? When is this wonderful information used?

In order to become the better, spiritual person that so many say they want to become, the information must be incorporated into your daily practices. Here is where most of us get into a dilemma. How to do this. We are so “informed” that we are choking on the huge wad of “what to do-s” and “what not to do-s” that we give up in frustration and do nothing, thus not becoming anything other than what we already were; the person we weren't happy with to start with.

Here is a suggestion, find a program that will give you a foundation on which to start. One that will guide you through your own “stuff” so that you can see/feel step by step what it is you are trying to accomplish; the you that you wish to create. Then incorporate those practices until they become second nature to you so that you can grow further as your understanding reaches new heights.

Practices are called that for a reason, if you do not practice, you will not achieve. When you were a baby learning to walk, you practiced diligently to get the hang of putting one step after the next. You learned to talk so that others could understand you with the same determination. What about learning to drive, how long did you strive for that goal? Everything worth doing has taken practice. Think about this the next time you are ready to announce that you “can't” do something; meditate, pray, feel another's distress or joy, or let something go.

Evolution of Self; Journey into Body, Mind, Spirit Balance is such a program. One of my students called it “an easy to learn/digest package that is now available for those who are are willing to accept it when it's offered.”

Please feel free to ask questions that you may have, in the comments and I will answer them as soon as I can

Being in Your Now

Being in Your Now

A group that I was in recently asked why we should be in the moment, in the now. How to get there and how we stay there in our day-to-day life. Some of the responses were things such as, why is this important/” and “it's too hard”. The one the really made me realize that the group was not “getting” the concept was when someone said, “I have to get out of the now to let my mind rest and to stay sane.”

The fact is that staying in your now will do just that, allow your mind to rest and keep you sane. Think about it, if you are not into what you are doing, who you are with and/or where you are at any given moment what is going on in your mind? For most people the mind is bouncing back and forth between what you wish you had done, what you feel you should have done in the past and what you are going to do , how you are going to do it and with whom in the future. Because of this unfocused state, what you are doing at the present moment is not done well or correctly, and this gives you something to grind on and worry about later while trying to do something else. Do you see the cycle here? This will create stress, fear, apprehension and distress; all leading to some sort of dis-ease in your biology. This thought state also makes time seem to drag out to uncomfortable duration and keeps you unhappy in your present and fretful about the consequences of your past actions and apprehensive about future plans.

Now, if you are attending to what you are doing right now, in this minute, you have no agitation or upset. You are focused on right now. In this way you become consciously aware of the joy of time well spent in purposeful activity. You will be assured that you did your best and you will actually find joy in the moment (because you aren't worried about all the other stuff) You will notice things that passed you by before because you were distracted, you will enjoy even mundane tasks more because of your focus and you will not feel spread too thin. These feelings will occur spontaneously because your mind is free of tormenting “wish I had”, “I should have”, “gosh I could have”, “why didn't I” type thoughts. Nor are you plagued by the “what is next” thing encroaching on your mind and, you find peace.

This is why and how meditation works, as your mind becomes quiet, your body becomes peaceful. When you learn how to live that way all of the time, you begin to live in peace, grace and understanding dawns upon you.

Next question is how do I do this “staying in my now” thing? It is an inherent trait; you are born with this ability. Watch a child at play how many times does Mom have to call before the child realizes there is something going on outside his now? In actuality you, as an adult, do it more than you think. Remember a time when you were doing something that made time seem to stand still? You were doing it then. Just become consciously aware of what you are doing, where you are doing it and with whom, even if it is just yourself. That is being in your now. Yes, it is a process; yes, you have to work at it a bit and truly all you need to do is to remember it. Anything you have ever done required the same investment to make it a part of your daily life. Learning to walk, talk, drive and yes to think. This is just a calmer, more productive, satisfying and peaceful way to do the thinking.

I congratulate you on your decision to pursue this path and I wish you Love, Light, Laughter and Bright Blessings as well as new things to grace your path. Chessie

OK, SO WHAT IS A MIND-SET ANYWAY?

OK, SO WHAT IS A MIND-SET ANYWAY?

The ancestor of every action is a thought.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Your mind set is your mental map to your life. Your mind registers absolutely everything that passes through your life and processes it according to your core beliefs. For instance, if you were trained while you were a child to truly believe that you are worthless in some way, that belief is super glued to your deepest thoughts and feelings about you. This holds true for EVERYTHING in your life path.

What you habitually think whether you are aware of it or not, you manifest. If there is something in your life that just will not go away and you feel that it should, you must dig down to find the thought, the mindset that is mapping that part of your life. These things that you don't want will show up everywhere, in your ability to succeed in all aspects of your life, in your biology, in your attitude(s) about certain beliefs that vary from your own. Quite frankly, there is a spiritual maturity issue here, a level where you recognize that examination, opening and growth is required for you to proceed.

Your root chakra holds your past life experiences and fears concerning your survival, work, family, health, trust and things of this nature; you may have to start work here. Truthfully and with LOVE for yourself, examine these deep-seated beliefs to find your overriding belief so that you can change it. Change is scary but the enlightenment and the growth you will receive are well worth the effort. As you work through the changing of your mindset you bump into the Chakra 2 issue of change itself; your feelings about what others think (and why you care) and your ideas concerning attention and power-seeking. (Don't get your knickers in a twist here, we all go through these things as we must to evolve, I am just letting you know that they will come up...eventually)

Once you have gotten this far chakra 3 comes into the transformation. This is where your personal power, self-confidence, self-esteem and your ability to stand by your own convictions comes into play. So you have identified the fact that your mind set map is “off” and not fitting the lay of the land as you used to think it should lie, you have decided to dig down to find out why you are thinking in an unhealthy way and, once found, you have decided to implement change to remap your thoughts, so here is where you make your stand. Is your new thought map worthy of you? Does it reflect your best interests? Does it raise your vibrations? Does it make you feel good? Great, now, can you stand by your new conviction?

Congratulations! You have grown into the balance of love in your heart chakra area. You have come to the place where, with a new and empowering mind set, you are able to move up to a higher level of life and love with yourself and those around you. You will spontaneously move into your throat chakra to communicate your new heart’s truth of your new mind set and find the courage to cross the bridge that connects your intellect with your senses. This will shoot you up into your 6th chakra where you can see the deepest beauty and truth in all things then you will evolve again into your greatest connection to Transcendent Spirit and your one-ness in the cosmos and true freedom.

All of this wondrous growth from the seemingly small decision to change your mindset! I wish you blissful growth, remapping and Bright Blessings Chessie
