YOU CAN’T STAND IN THE SAME RIVER TWICE

YOU CAN’T STAND IN THE SAME RIVER TWICE

Because the rivers’ water is constantly moving, it is constantly new at any given point. Stand in the water and watch as it swirls and flows around your legs. You may be standing in the same place but the water that you initially stepped into is gone. It has been replaced with new, different water. You may be the same, but the river is not.

I have found that change is inevitable no matter who you are nor what your belief system. As your life is the river in question you either grow with it, or you do not. Learning what still works for you and keeping it, as well as what does not and letting it go, so that you have room to grow allows you to keep up with your river.
Growth is better than stagnation. Growth gives you new opportunities, new friends, new experiences and new ways to share with others. Stagnation gives you pain, frustration, illness, and a wasted life.

When you look back at the river of your life what do you want to see in its’ wake? Growth and opportunity taken and applied or regret and remorse? Here’s to every one’s river, free flowing, ever changing and ever giving to all you meet.

JUST WHAT DO YOU WANT TO HAUL AROUND

JUST WHAT DO YOU WANT TO HAUL AROUND
AND HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU WANT TO WALK THROUGH IT?

I have had an occasion to speak to a group of people who told me that they felt compelled to do some rather nasty things to others because some rather nasty things had been done to them.

OK, let’s talk about that. Use your imagination to take all of the nasty, mean and ugly things that have EVER happened to you and see them as a huge pile of manure. Your pile may be larger or smaller than other persons’, but it is your pile therefore it is the most important for this exercise.

Now you have a few choices. You can choose to haul it around for the rest of your life while it gets larger and smellier hoping someone will ‘fix’ it for you (good luck with that one). Or you can choose to use it as an excuse to be mean to others and that is the first aspect of this question we will discuss today.

Every time you use your pile of manure to be hateful (that word means ‘full of hate’ by the way) this it what you are really doing. You are choosing, with great effort, to pull your pile of manure around in front of you and then you are choosing to walk through it one more time. Each time you choose/decide to do this, you get some on you, making you relive the whole nasty business over and over again. Because of this practice, your life is probably not getting any better, is it? Now ask yourself, is that what you really want, to be stuck in Manureville for the rest of your life? Somehow, I don’t think so or you wouldn’t be here.

So, as the second aspect of our question; what is a good, positive, healthy choice for getting rid of your pile?

I strongly suggest that you choose to go through your pile and get rid of it by using it to

1.) Fertilize your learning (as in what not to do again),

2.) Deciding what you can choose to forgive and thereby dismiss, (i.e., let it go) and

3.) Then decide what is just not worth your notice or worthy of you so you truly let it go (it wasn’t worth keeping in the first place).

Simple? Yes. Easy? Not really but if your goal is the choice to be whole and balanced it is well worth the effort. I did it; others in the program have done it, so can you. I promise you that when you decide to truly look at your life and choose to begin to raise your vibrations to match the vibrations of the Energy of the Universe, this task will not seem as daunting as it might right now.
So, Bright Blessings and Good Choices, Chessie

HATE IS A 4 LETTER WORD AND HAS NO PLACE WITHIN A POSITIVE PERSONS VOCABULARY

HATE IS A 4 LETTER WORD AND HAS NO PLACE WITHIN A POSITIVE PERSON’S VOCABULARY

“There is not a single instance in history where hate has brought joy to human beings. Hate destroys those who hold it in their minds and bodies. If humanity released all hate, fear, and resentment, then no dictator could ever rise, and we would have peace on earth. Peace on earth can occur only through peace within each of us.” (The Secret Daily Teachings)

I hear people say that “h” word all of the time and it hurts my soul to hear it. I found while doing research for Evolution of Self that the mere sound of the word does damage to our bodies. Dr Emoto in his book “The Hidden Messages in Water” explains this phenomenon quite well. I also discovered that calling this feeling into our biology creates free radicals which cause illness.

When I say something to friends about the constant use of this word, they laugh and tell me that it is “just an expression”, that it “doesn’t mean anything” but your subconscious doesn’t know that. It creates the free radicals that that feeling causes and goes on with its other business. I know that people ingest things that are bad for their biology all the time and usually it is a conscious choice, like smoking, drinking, eating foods with unhealthy additives, but why choose one more thing as silly as ‘an expression’ to bring down your body?

I am not sure I understand that. People say that they want to be healthy, they want to be pain free, they want to feel good, but they don’t want to give up the things that are making them ill.

I was at my chiropractor for lower back pain, and we were having a discussion about world matters. I made the offhand comment that “it makes my butt twitch” and before I finished the sentence, my lower back went into a very painful spasm. The Dr. said, “I think I see your problem and maybe you should change your vocabulary.” Your body listens to what your brain is thinking and reacts to it before you even are aware of it. You know, like when you see what looks like a bug or something scary and you react to it before you truly know what it was.

I learned that lesson on the spot and I changed my vocabulary. I don’t use that expression anymore. I made a conscious choice to not call that pain into my biology and I advocate that by consciously choosing to not use the 4 letter “h” word you will make a mental step in the right direction of your goal of wholeness. After all that is what Evolution of Self is about isn’t it? That is what you are working for, right? Balance, wholeness, wellness?

Listen to what you say/think and decide whether it is worthy of you, do your words reflect what you truly want to call into your life? If so, great; if not, then choose to better your situation by improving your vocabulary. Bright Blessings, ChessieA group of colorful hearts

WHERE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHERE YOU ARE NOW?

               WHERE IS MORE IMPORTANT

                THAN WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
© Chessie Roberts2010, all rights reserved

When I was a teenager the trend of the day for the girls was to wash and roll your hair in the morning and to keep the rollers in until time for your ‘special event’ of the day. Your ‘event’ could be a date, shopping with your friends or going out to dinner with the family, anything would do for the main happening for the day. My Mother and I would argue horribly over this particular teenage tradition. One day I was reading a newspaper column by Ann Landers where she asked a (what was for me) life changing question.

“Where are you going that is more important than where you are now?”

I was recently reminded of this question when I was talking to a friend of mine. He was lamenting the fact that he had not had a good time at a play that he had attended. I asked what had happened to keep him from enjoying the play and he told me that the lights had been turned down and he could not read the book he wanted to read. I would have thought he would have been watching the play that he had paid to attend rather than reading a book. Who does that I asked myself?

I soon discovered that even on camping trips people are playing video games, texting (and being annoyed by incoming texts), talking on cell phones and being upset by weak signals to their appliances. Even getting to the woods, children must now be entertained with movies rather than paying attention to what is outside the car window. My thought is why go camping if you are going to stay tethered?

As I work with people in the Evolution of Self program, I find that many people are very unhappy because they are trying to be in more places than where they physically are. I can see that there are times when this is required but not every minute of the day. (I also learned that our minds do not actually multi-task, they just do more than one thing poorly.)

Start looking at where you are now, what you are supposed to be doing now and concentrate on that, be in that ‘now’. Don’t worry about where you will need to be in the next hour or day and do your best where you are now. Begin asking yourself, “Where is more important than where I am right now?” Make your ‘now’ as important as your ‘later’ so that you stay focused. Then, when you finish that time frame move on to the next.

Anticipation is a good thing but not to the detriment of you being in your ‘now’. Learn to enjoy the ‘now’ no matter where or what it is and you will find that your days go by better and your enjoyment of life increases.

THE TWO MOST POWERFUL WORDS

THE TWO MOST POWERFUL WORDS IN THE          LANGUAGE

©Chessie Roberts 2010 all rights reserved

Do you find yourself becoming argumentative and defensive over the slightest thing? Does it seem to you that others are not getting with your program? Could it be that you are attempting to exercise control over something you can’t or should not be controlling?

If these issues are in your life, you need to learn about the two most powerful words in any language, “Let go.” I f you will ask yourself a few questions you will see very quickly how and where to use these wonderful words.

When you are pressing a point ask if the point is truly important. Will it be important in ten minutes? How about one month? A Year? If the subject is so trivial as to be lost in the next ten minutes, why waste time, energy, and frustration on it in the first place? Let it go. If in a months’ time the point is not something worth remembering, then why pursue it? See how that works?

Secondly ask yourself why it is important to you to be the ‘winner’ of this particular argument/difference of opinion? Is the subject of the argument important enough to agree to disagree? If not, it is not important enough to argue about in the first place. Remember that everyone has an opinion and rarely are two just alike and that is ok but to have to be correct all of the time about everything (no matter how trivial) sais that there deeper issues of control that need to occupying you time.

As you learn how to let go of the small things and be OK with that, the larger things will be easier to let go of as well. Letting go will de-clutter your life and make the more important things (those truly important) clearer so that you can take care of them in a positive and balanced way.

WHEN YOU CHANGE WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT

WHEN YOU CHANGE WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT

        WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT CHANGES
© Chessie Roberts 2010, all rights reserved

Do you find yourself having conversations with your ‘self’ about what you should have done or said in any given circumstance? How about what you think SHOULD have happened or how you SHOULD have reacted to fill in the blank?

When we talk to ourselves, we call it thinking but what we are really doing is actually talking to “self” about something that is bothering us. It can be anything, a disturbing incident, an angry encounter, a close call. You notice that I didn’t list anything ‘good’ here. That is because, as people, we don’t usually rehash the good, just the bad.

The worse the trauma, the more we go through it in our heads later. We grind on it, rewriting the scenario over and over again. Most of the time, within our rewrite, we come out the clever hero, besting our antagonist and making them feel as bad as we did in the original incident.

The reason for this is that’s how we handled this type of thing when we were children. A little person will tell you the same tale of trauma until you feel that you can’t stand to hear it again but, that is how they ‘talk themselves down’.

As we mature, we learn to keep most of these things to ourselves, but they do have a tendency to pop out somewhere else if we are not vigilant. One of the ways; as we mature into more positive people, we can handle this process is to change what we are thinking about. We do this by learning proper self-talk. I.e. writing a better script in our heads.

The way to start the re-write is to go for the positive in all of your daily encounters. Look at whatever is going on (in ANY situation) and ask yourself, “What makes this situation positive?” (I keep that sign hanging right by my computer so that I don’t forget). Next, ask yourself “What are my assets?” These two questions will change the focus of your thoughts to a more positive slant.

The other thing that you can do to get your thoughts moving in a positive direction is to keep a journal with you at all times (just until you get used to thinking this way). Every time you come up with a less than desirable thought, write it down. If you can change it to a positive statement at the time, go, ahead and do it, if not, wait until you have some quiet time and refer back to your notes. Then rewrite the statement in the proper positive language.

EXAMPLE: “That stupid jerk nearly ran me off the road! I wonder where he got his driver’s license, Hasbro.” CORRECTION: “I am so glad he missed me, I hope he gets where he is going safely.”

It might sound a bit corny, but it really does work. As you begin to change your inner vocabulary, your thoughts will turn toward a more positive flow. This flow will, in turn, change what occupies your mind. As that focus changes you will find that your vibrations rise and, consequently, your life will flow better as well because, when you change what you think about, what you think about changes.

YOUR ACTIONS AND THEIR RIPPLE EFFECT

YOUR ACTIONS AND THEIR RIPPLE EFFECT

© Chessie Roberts 2010 all right reserved

This is for everyone but especially for those people you may know who are convinced that they know ever so much more than any adult on the planet. You may pick up a thing or two yourself.

Have you ever thrown a pebble into a still water pond? Did you notice how far the ripples spread? What you may not see is how far they spread and exactly what they move that is floating on the surface, leaves, bugs, grass, anything growing up through the water.

Let’s think about what happens when these ripples that you have chosen to cause hit the shore of the pond. They bounce back and move toward the center of the disturbance. This reversed movement will again move everything on the waters’ surface.

Lets’ think of the ponds surface as your life and the pebble as the action that you choose to take in any given situation. The “stuff” in/on the water is now the people with whom you interact. Ready? Here we go. We will discuss other people’s pebbles at the end of this.

You get angry about something and decide to leave home (you’ll show them!!!). Of course, since you’re angry, you don’t plan well and don’t think it through well. You leave things behind and you don’t (at this time) care where you will go, what you will do when you get there nor how you will support yourself. All of this will come to you on the back-ripple side of things. To make your escape you involve your friends. They mean well but they don’t understand the ripples ether.

Now, your family finds out and gosh, they are upset!! (ah ha, you got their attention). They have to find you, so they also involve every one you know. If that doesn’t work the police get in on things (did you know that there are and will be charges, many charges filed by the police when you do this?) All manner of things fall into place, nationwide alerts go out, street cops looking for you, pictures of you are everywhere, friends (some you will know, some you may not know) and neighbors will be looking for you. Then you have the bad guys who are ALWAYS looking for an easy mark and then, I know you won’t see them coming. As a runaway, cold hungry, no back up, no support (here come those back ripples I spoke of) you are that easy mark.

As if that wasn’t enough, there are others throwing their pebbles into the pond. Those actions have their own ripple patterns, and they will interfere with the ripples of others as well as yours. This can quickly become an oogy mess. Do you have the picture? The point of this whole thing is to show you that everything you choose to do will affect everyone around you to some degree. A lot of those degrees you may not ever be aware of, and some will come back to smack you in the face. The point of this is, pay attention and keep your mind with you at all times. OK?

For the more positive and evolved of you out there, this is also the case with the good actions. Be aware that some of the ripples counteract other ripples (like people praying for different outcomes to the same situation) and some enhance them (that is why many praying for a single outcome works so powerfully). If you know someone that you may be able to help with this please feel free to pass it on.
