Invation to all followers of Evolution of Self; Journey into Body,Mind,Spirit Balance

                               TOPICS PLEASE

Dear Readers (if you will permit me to borrow the phrase), I have been talking to you about all sorts of topics in these blogs. I thought that you may have topics you would like to see covered. Here is your chance to tell me what you want to read about.

Some of you are new to Evolution of Self; Journey into Body, Mind, Spirit Balance so here is a brief overview. This is a program that helps anyone who wishes to participate to regain their balance in these three areas. I created it in an effort to heal myself and found that others wanted to know and understand what I had done.

The program covers

1) Your birthright; the information with you were born and what became of it.

2) Centering which is about pulling yourself together to clear an inner pathway for your energy to travel.

3) Grounding yourself to the Earth that is your energetic source.

4) How to create a calm mindset to help you stay focused and less stressed.

5) The proper way to speak to yourself without judgment or criticism.

6) How to visualize what you truly want.

7-13) How to tap into each internal energy center and make it more efficient for you.

Let me know what you would like to read more about and I will address each topic in order of its demand. You may email me at chessrob05@gmail.com, post a message or go to the discussions tab on Facebook or comment at this blog site. I check all of them regularly. Bright Blessings, Chessie

FEAR; IT IS NOTHING TO BE AFRAID OF Part 3, Where is Your Comfort Zone?

3 FEAR IS NOTHING TO BE AFRAID OF Part 3

© Chessie Roberts 2010, all rights reserved

Where is Your Comfort Zone?

Our comfort zone is the little box we live in where everything is j-u-s-t the way we like it, we are comfortable. Sounds great right? Well, I guess it can be, but we need to watch out because it can keep us from growing, moving, sharing, or creating. To do that, we must (shaky, scary letters here) STEP OUT OF THE ZONE. That is sometimes a very fear-inducing thing to do.

Where are the boundaries of your comfort zone? Do you feel comfortable talking to strangers? Is it easy for you to eat alone in a restaurant? How do you feel about public speaking? How about going into a social situation unescorted? Would you rather hug someone (not family), shake hands or hide in a hole? Does interstate traffic make you wish you were driving a tank instead of your poor defenseless car? Do places of authority scare the starch right out of you?

I understand, there are things outside everyone’s comfort zone. Things that you would rather chew broken glass than face. things that you fear and that is ok. Here is where we talk about changing that. Don’t panic, you don’t have to make a speech on top of a speeding truck on the interstate, baby steps, baby steps.

What I am advocating is just expanding the zone of what is comfortable for you. As you overcome things that make you fearful, your courage to try something new grows. As that happens, you become more and more powerful and fear less.

Let’s break it down. To be able to begin talking to someone you don’t know very well try just asking the time or complementing something about that person. When this is comfortable you can ask questions that require conversation on the part of the other person. Soon you will be able to speak to anyone.

Eating alone in a restaurant is intimidating to a lot of people so know you are not alone. Start small with a fast-food place. Everyone is in a hurry, and you won’t be noticed. Then move up to some place that caters to your neighborhood. Next, try the larger chains, by then you will be able to go anywhere.

Public speaking is the most feared thing out there and I strongly suggest a public speaking club such as Toastmasters. They will walk you right through it with all the support, encouragement and guidance you can ever want.

Get the picture here? Just take one small step until you feel comfortable and then the next. Every time you reach and stretch, you grow closer to handling your fears in a powerful, productive and positive way.

Until next week, Bright Blessings. Chessie

REMREMBERING TO BALANCE WHAT IS IMPORTANT

            REMEMBERING TO BALANCE
                  WHAT IS IMPORTANT
© Chessie Roberts 2009 used on Blogspot by permission

One of my students asked me how to decide what is important in one's life and how should they prioritize everything they have to do. I told them about this experiment I saw in collage.

One of my professors came into class one day and announced that he was going to demonstrate one of the most important life lessons we would ever learn. He begin the class by wordlessly picking up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked us if the jar was full. We agreed that it was.

He then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar and shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked us again if the jar was full. We agreed it was.

He next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. Some of us thought it was.

He then produced a cup of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the grains of sand. We laughed..

'Now,' he said as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things---your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions---and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car. The sand is everything else---the small stuff. 'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no
room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you..
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.

Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents (if you are still lucky enough to have them). Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first---the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. Our professor smiled and said, 'I'm glad you asked.' The coffee just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a cup of coffee with a friend.

I have seen this done in business coaching events several times since then and use it myself in some of my classes. I feel that is an excellent visual to keep in mind when we wonder where our balance should be. Bright Blessings Chessie
